mailbox started in 2014 as a secure email provider and has been growing steadily ever since. Today we offer much more than secure email, creating a genuine alternative to major American providers for our customers. With these latest improvements, we're positioning ourselves as a complete digital workplace. After an intensive beta testing phase, the new mailbox Suite is now launching, with major updates to how it works, looks and functions. Email, calendar, contacts, office, video conferences, and drive now combine into one smooth, easy-to-use solution.
Technical redesign as the foundation
The completely redesigned mailbox Suite makes your daily work much more efficient. Smart keyboard shortcuts make repetitive tasks quicker, an improved dark mode makes it easier on your eyes, and different backgrounds and themes let you personalise your workspace.
The navigation is better organised, with settings that are easier to find. Browser navigation features ensure a consistent experience when moving between different areas of the platform.
Mobile working reimagined
We know how important mobile working is for you: managing emails on the go has never been easier than with our new Progressive Web App (PWA). The application works directly on your smartphone or tablet browser – without installing any additional apps or using storage space.
The simple setup guide takes you through the process in just a few steps, whilst the redesigned notification centre clearly shows all important updates. This way, you can keep track of all your communication even when you're out and about.
🎓︎ What is a Progressive Web App (PWA)?
A Progressive Web App combines the advantages of web applications with app-like functionality. It runs in the browser but can be used like a native app – including offline functions and without app store installation. For IT administrators, this means: no additional security updates and no maintenance for separate apps.
Mail: New features for your modern working day
Our main email function shows many thoughtful improvements under the new, simpler name mailbox Mail. If you accidentally send a message, the "undo send" function gives you a brief window to stop it from being sent.
Email categories help you organise your messages, similar to the existing functions for appointments and contacts. You can control how quickly emails are automatically marked as read. Enhanced reply options let you choose exactly who receives your responses. You can now easily add attachments from recently viewed emails directly into new messages.
Other improvements include adjustable font sizes for better readability and customisable labels that let you name and organise different email accounts individually.
Office: Intelligent calendar for better teamwork
mailbox Office provides a complete package for your digital work – alone or in teams – with calendar, contacts, document editing, surveys and chat. The built-in calendar now has many improvements. We'd especially like to highlight the direct connection with mailbox Meet for video conferences: meeting links are automatically created with your calendar appointments – saving you considerable time when organising meetings.
Optional participant status indicators help with flexible meeting planning, whilst a countdown reminds you of upcoming meetings. Better participant sorting and shared resource management make it easier to coordinate larger teams.
When using mailbox mobile, there's a dynamic weekly view designed specifically for smartphones. The yearly view now works on all devices too. You can forward meeting invitations, helping with efficient meeting management even in more complex organisations.
New brand identity, unchanged brand promise
Along with technical development, we've also completely redesigned our brand identity. The visual changes go far beyond appearance and reflect our strategic shift towards becoming a digitally sovereign workplace.
A new logo, simplification to "mailbox", fresh colours and a completely redesigned, accessible website characterise our new look. We've simplified product names to Mail, Office, Meet and Drive.
Our new brand identity represents trust and expertise and follows a clear trend: organisations and individuals need modern, connected systems that work together seamlessly whilst following European data protection standards.
